Takıldık bir avuç böceğin peşine, çıktık bir maceraya....: devleme

En son bloğumda yazdığım yazının başlığı "Çok kar yağdı" imiş. Ama nereden bilebilirdim ki, çooook çok daha soğuk ve karlı bölgelere gitmek zorunda kalacağım...Bazı özel işlerim nedeniyle 13 günlüğüne Kars/Digor'a gittim.Tek kelimeyle çok soğuktu. Geceleri - 30 dereceyi gördüğümüz oldu.

The title of my last post to my blog was "it snowed a lot", but how could i know that i would have to travel to a far more colder and snowy region... For some personal affairs i went to Digor/Kars for 13 days. "It was just freezing cold". The temperature was minus 30 degrees at night.

Şimdi evdeyim ama sevdiklerim Digor'da...
Now i'm back at home but my beloveds are in Digor....

Bursa'da... / Back in Bursa

Bursa'ya 18 Şubat'ta geri döndüm ve geldikten bir hafta sonra derneğimizin aylık toplantısına katıldım.
I came back to Bursa on 18th Feb and one week after i arrived i participated monthly meeting of our association.

Artık toplantılarımız eski bir Osmanlı Hamamı olan Tarihi Ördekli Hamamında oluyor.
Our meetings are now held in Historical Ördekli Hammam (Turkish Bath), which is restored as a conference and exhibition center.

Son üç toplantı da burada yapılmıştı ama burada birtoplantıya bende ilk kez katıldım.
The last three meetings were held here as well but it is my first time i have been attending to a meeting here.

Ördekli Hamamı'nın toplantı salonu geniş ve ferah fakat salonun tasarlanma biçimi bir kiliseyi çağrıştırıyor.
The meeting hall of Ördekli Hammam (Turkish Bath) is very spacious and vast but the design of the hall resembles a church.

Katılım 70 kişi civarındaydı...
There were almost 70 beekeepers..

26 Şubat Pazar günü hava çok ılıktı, arıcı arkadaşım Enver Mutlu ile arıları kontrole çıktık.
The 26th February was a mild day and we decided to control the bees with a beekeeper friend, Enver Mutlu.

İşte kovanlarımız.... / Here are our hives....

Verilen şurubu bitirmişler ve fondan şekeri de bitirmek üzereler.
They have finished the syrup given and about to finish the fondant candy.

The Kindir Farm, on our way back,.... Last time it was covered with snow...

Yolda gelirken susayınca yanımıza hiç su almadığımızı fark ettik. Ve yolumuzun üzerindeki köy olan Akçasurluk köyünde mola verdik.
On the way we felt thirst and recognized that there was no water with us. We decided to give a tea break in Akçasurluk, a village on our way.

Ne yazık ki su alabileceğimiz tek bakkal kapalıydı.... :(
Unfortunately the only grocer to buy water was closed.... :(

Ayrılırken gözüme badem ağacı takıldı, çiçek açmaya başlamış, artık bahar gelmiş anlaşılan...
As we were leaving the village, we saw an almond tree blossoming,... good sign, spring is coming...

Nihayet benim arılıktayız... bir zamanlar 52 koloni vardı burada,... şimdi ise mezarlıktan farksız...
At my apiary... once i used to have 52 colonies here,... now seems like a graveyard...

Toplu varroa saldırısından kurtulan bir kaç koloni,... tarlacılar kovana polen getirmeye başlamışlar...
The few colonies that survived the total varroa assault,... the foragers started to bring pollen to the hive...

Cenazelerimiz.... / Our funerals ......

Dönüşte Muhtar Ferhat SIVAT Ağabeyimizin arılığında durup uzaktan bir baktık. Yazın ince akan çayır çeşmesi kalın akmaya başlamış.Sanırım fazla kayıptan dolayı onunda canı arılara bakmak istemiyor. Çünkü aylar önce de bu sandıklar buradaydı, hala yerinde duruyorlar.

On our way back we stop by a neighbouring apiary; apiary of Ferhat SIVAT. The water level in the fountain seems high because the flowing water was much more higher than it was last summer. Since he has lost so many hives due to varroa, he doesn't feel earger to takecare of the bees. Beause these empty hives were here months ago and now they are still in thesame place.

Later that day, we drove to Enver's apiary.

Arılıkta gözüme çok büyük bir çekirge takıldı.... yılın bu mevsimi çekirge görmek için çok erken... ilginç ???

Dün Bursa'nın önde gelen arıcılarından Sebahattin YILMAZ Ağabeyim aradı. Bugün Uludağ Üniversitesi Karacabey MYO'da Hayvan Yetiştiriciliği Bölümündeki öğrencilerle arıcılık üzerine bir söyleşiye davet edilmiş. Öğlen 12:30'da buluştuk ve MYO'na, Dr. Oya GİRİŞİN'in yanına gittik.

Yesterday, Sebahattin YILMAZ, a reputable beekeeping master from Bursa, called me. He was invited to an interview with students attending to animal raising programme at Uludağ University Karacabey Vocational High School. We met at 12:30 and went to Dr. Oya GİRİŞGİN at VHS (Vocational High School)

Söyleşiye katılım yaklaşık öğrenci 10 civarıydı. arıcılık hakkında çok fazla soru sordular. Zaman zaman bende sorulara muhattap oldum.
There were about 10 students attending the interview. They asked so many questions about beekeeping. I was asked questions from time to time.

Söyleşinin sonunda, umarım hepsi, arıcılık hakkında bir bilgi edinmişlerdir.
At the end of the interview, I hope they all got an idea about what beekeeping is.

Dün (1.2.2012) küçük kızım 3 ayını tamamladı 4. ayından gün aldı. Artık daha güçlü, daha dirençli, konuşma provası yapıyor, sesler çıkarıyor. Her iki resime bakınca zamanın ne kadar hızlı aktığını görüyorum.

Yesterday (1.2.2012) my little daughter completed her 3 months and now she in her 4th month. She is more stronger, more active. In these days she is making rehersals to speak and giving out weird sounds. When i check the two picture, i see that the time is passing so fast..

Dün sabah yoğun bir kar yağışıyla uyandık. Ve nerdeyse tüm gün kar yağdı. Bursa'nın önde gelen arıcıların Sebahattin Yılmaz Ağabey bazı işleri nedeniyle Karacabey'e gelmiş. Telefon açtı, buluştuk, konuştuk, sohbet ettik.

Yesterday morning we woke up with heavy snow. And it snowed almost all day. A beekeeper friend, Sebahattin Yılmaz from Bursa, had come to Karacabey. He called me and we met and chatted.

Öğleden sonra hava yumuşadı ve karlar erimeye başladı.
In the afternoon the weather was warmer and the snow started to melt.

Fakat dün gece hava ayazdı ve eriyen tüm kar tekrar dondu, buz oldu.
But there was a frost last night and all the melting snow suddenly turned into ice.

Bu sabah yine yoğun kar yağışıyla uyandık. (Evimin balkonundan görünen manzara)

Arkadaşım Ertan Gündem'i aradım, beraber arıları kontrol etmeye karar verdik. Karacabey'e çok sık kar yağmadığı için uzun süredir zincir takmıyorum. Unutmuşum, baştan zor olsa da sonunda zincirleri takmayı başardım.
I called Ertan Gündem, my friend who is also a beekeeper like me. We decided to go and check the hives. It doesn't snow so often here in Karacabey, therefore i haven't fastened the snow chains for so long. So I forgot how to fasten the chains. After a few tries, i was able to fasten them.

Yeniköy yolu karla kaplıydı. Daha önce greyder tarafından açılmasına rağmen, kar yolu tekrar kapamış.
The road to Yeniköy was covered with snow. Though the road was scraped by a grader, the snow covered the road again.

İlk durağımız Kındır Çiftliğiydi.... burada Ertan'ın kış içinde aldığı arılar var... onları kontrole gittik. Normalde önümüzde bir yol var ama kardan belli belirsiz... temkinli gitmeliydik çünkü yolun kenarları hendek!
Our first stop is The Kindir Farm... My friend Ertan has purchased some bees some time ago.... we were going to check his bees. In fact the road in front of us led to the farm but because of the snow the road was not clear. We have to cautious because there were ditches on the sides of the road.

Çiftlikte 6 çoban köpeği bizi karşıladı. Hepsi serbest, arabanın etrafında havlıyorlardı. Yanımdaki arkadaşım Ertan daha cesurdu, ben korkumdan arabadan inemezken o indi. Ondan cesaret alıp bende indim. Elimizde çapa ve kürek vardı. Eğer olmasa hepsi birden saldıracaktı. Eminim. Çiftlikten uzaklaşırken belli bir mesafeye kadar hepsi bizi takip etti ve havlamaya devam ettiler. Önümüzde yürümemiz gereken en az 1 kilometre vardı.

6 shepherd dogs met us at the farm. They were not tied to anywhere and they were barking and wandering round the car. My friend Ertan was much more braver than me. Since i was afraid i preferred to stay in the car, but he got off the car. He encouraged me and i got off the car too. Ertan was carrying a hoe and i was carrying a spade. If we hadn't carried such things, i'm sure that all six dogs would have attacked us. As we were leaving the farm they chased us for some time and kept barking. And we had at least a kilometer to walk ahead.

Yürüdükçe kar neredeyse 50 cm.ye ulaştı.
As we walked the snow reached almost to 50 cm.

Ve en sonunda kovanlara ulaştık.
And finally the hives.

Çoğu kara gömülmüştü.
Many of them were covered with snow.

We cleaned the entrances of the hives...

Burada işimiz bitti, zor zahmet tekrar ana yola çıktık ve benim arılığa gittik.
After cleaning the entrances of the hives, we could hardly drive back to the main road and drove to my apiary.

Manzara çok farklı değildi...
The scenery was not so different...

Arılara su için koyduğumuz kaplar tamamen donmuştu. Sanırım bugün hava sıcaklığı -5 derece civarıydı.
The cut plastic demijohns, that worked as a water source for the bees, were frozen. I guess the temperature was round -5 degrees centigrate today.
