Ana kutuları bitti / Mating nucs have finished

Epey bir süredir üzerinde çalıştığımız ana kutuları nihayet bitti. Daha doğru ben hiçbirşey yapmadım, neredeyse tamamını arkadaşım Enver yaptı desem yeridir. Ben sadece ön kapakları boyadım hepsi o kadar. İki akşam önce teslim etti. Şimdi sıra çerçeve yapmakta.Onlarada bu akşam başladım, bir aksilik çıkmazsa yarın devam edeceğim.

The mating nucs, which we have been working on, have finally finished. In fact i didn't do much, my friend Enver did almost everything. I just painted the front sides, that's all. He delivered the mating nucs two nights ago. Now i have to make some frames for these nucs. I started making frames this evening, if everything goes on way, i will continue tomorrow.

Bugün Mehmet'in arılığına gittim. Mehmet oğul alarak arılarını çoğaltmayı tercih eden bir arıcı. Koloni mevcudu epey artmış.

Today i went to Mehmet's apiary. Mehmet prefers breeding bees by swarming. Number of his colonies have increased a lot recently.

Stoklama kovanım dalak yapmış, temizlemeliyim.
My stock hive has drawn some foundation, i should clear them off.

Bilen Metodu / The Bilen Method

Bana bu yöntemden ilk kez ustamız Halil Bilen bahsettiği için bende bu yönteme Bilen Metodu diyeceğim. Bu yöntemin amacı koloninin oğul ateşini almak.

Since the beekeeping master Halil Bilen has told me about this precaution for the first tim, i call it The Bilen Method. The aim is to extinguish the swarming fever of the colony.

Temiz bir çuvala ve bir zımbaya ihtiyacımız var.
 We need a clean empty sack and staples.

Silkilmeden önce / Just before shaking

Önce çuval kovanın önüne zımbayla tutturulur.
First, the sack is attached to the hive entrance by the help of staples.

Silkme işlemi bittikten sonra / After the shaking process finished

Sonra her çerçeve çuvalın üstüne, kovanın önüne silkilir. Arılar silkildikten sonra çerçevelerdeki kraliçe yüzükleri kesilir.
Then each frame is shaken on the sack, in fraont of the hive. After shaking the bees, the queen cells on the frames are destroyed.

10 dakika sonra / 10 minutes later

Arılar tekrar yavaş yavaş içeri giriyor.
The bees enter the hive slowly again.

Yaklaşık yarım saat sonra kovan önünde kimsekalmıyor.

For about half an hour later, nobody is left in front of the hive.

30 dakika sonra / 30 minutes later

 İşim bittikten sonra dere kenarına indim. Nehir neredeyse tekrar eski yatağında akmaya başlamış.
After my work, i walked down the river. The river was nearly flowing in its old bed.

Bir grup leylek gördüm, beni görünce uçmaya başladılar.
I saw a group of storks, they started flying when they saw me.

Asi Kraliçe / The Rebellious Queen

Arıların suyu azalmış, onlara su almak için çeşmeye gittim.
The water of the bees almost finished, so i went to the spring to fill the demijohns.

Hemen çeşmenin yanında arılığı olan Ferhat Ağabeyimiz sebze ekiyordu.
Beekeeper friend Ferhat, whose apiary is right next to the spring, was planting some vegetables.

Arılığın önündeki dala bir oğul konmuş. Üç kez kovana silkelemelerine rağmen, asi kraliçe tekrar eski yerine konmuş. Son kez silkelemek için havanın kararmasını bekliyorlardı.
A swarm had landed on the tree in front of his tree. Though they had shaken the swarm in to the hive three times, the rebellious queen flew back to the same branch again.They were waiting the weather to be darker to shake for the last time.
