Yine Çok Yağmur Yağdı / It Rained A Lot Again.

Geçen Pazar (15 Nisan) arılarım formik asit vermeye gitmiştim ve dere kenarında bir kaç resim çekmiştim.
 Last Sunday (15th April) i went to my apiary to give formic acid to my bees and took some photos by the river.

 

İşte o gün işlerim tam bitmişti ki bir sağnak bastırdı.
Just as i finished my work, a shower came.

     

Görünen o ki baraj kapaklarını yine açmışlar ve heryer yine sular altında kalmış.
It seems that they have opened the gates of the dam and water covered everywhere.

İşim bitip Karacabey'e döndükten sonra Mehmet Köker Ağabey'imiz aradı.Kendisi aslında tüccardır ancak bu arıcılık sevdasına o da yakalanmış. O da benim gibi Varroazede. Onun da 65 koloniden sadece 11 kolonisi kaldı.

I finished my work and i returned back to Karacabey and then Mehmet Köker, an other beekeeper friend gave me a call. Though he is a merchant, he fell in love with the bees long time ago. His colonies were hit by varroa just like mine. He used to have 65 colonies, now only 11 left.

Bahri is the new apprentice of Mehmet Köker.

Onun arılığına inen yol çok dik. Arılığın yola sınır olması da çok kötü çünkü onun arıları önceki yıllarda birkaç kez çalındı.

The road to his apiary is very steep. The apiariy's being right next to the road is a disadvantage because someof his hives were stolen in the previous years.

Bahri 14 yaşında ve 7. sınıfa gidiyor. Aslında keşke benimde böyle bir çırağım olsa.
Bahri is 14 years old and he is attending to the 7th class. I wish i had an apprentice too.

Onlar hazırlık yaparken ben arılığın birkaç resmini çekeyim.
As they were making preparations, let me take a few pictures of the apiary.

And now it is time for varroas to meet with formic acid.

 

 Mehmet Köker Ağabey'imiz kulübesinin önündeki dut ağacını met ediyor. Neyse dut zamanı gelir bir tadına bakarız.

Mehmet Köker is praising the mulberry tree in front of his hut. Anyway, when time comes we will come and taste the fruits.

Çırak çalışkan, boş durmuyor, şurup hazırlıyor.
The apprentice is hardworking, he is preparing sugar syrup.

Gece - At Night
Pazar günü Taşlkı Köyü'ne bıraktığım stok kovanına arıcı dostum Mehmet bugün akşam üstü çıkan bir oğulu koymuş.
My beekeeper friend Mehmet has put a swarm in the stock hive in the evening that i took it to Taşlık village last Sunday.

Gece kovana bakmaya gittik.
We went to check the hive at night.

Ne yazık ki ışık yok. Karanlıkta körüğü bulup yakmak zor.
Unfortunately there is no light. It is difficult to find and light the smoker in thedark.

Ben mi? Varroaları haklamaya hazırlanıyorum!
Me? I am getting ready to kill the varroas.

Bu kovana konulan oğul, ikinci oğul. Yani kraliçe daha bakire, hiç bir göze yumurta atmamış.Tüm varroalar arının üstünde.
The swarm put in the stock hive is a second swarm. Therefore the queen is virgin, no eggs, larvae or pupa. All the varroas are on the bees.

İşte geliyor, arıların yemesi için şeker şurubu ve fondan şeker ve varroaları öldürmek için plastik kanal içerisine 10 cc formik asit.
Here it comes, sugar syrup and fondant candy for the bees to eat and 10 cc formic acid in a plastic canal to kill the varroas.

Rüzgarın strafor kovanı uçurmaması için üzerine iki tuğla.
Two bricks on the top to avoid the wind blow the styrophore hive away.

Taşlık'tan dönüşte ne yaptığını görmek için arkadaşım Enver'in yanına uğradım.
On the way back from Taşlık, i went to see Enver and also see what he had done.

Enver tüm straforu ana çiftleştirme kutusu gövdesi yapmak için kullandığı için, kapaklara strafor kalmadı. Bu yüzden bir miktar daha strafor almak zorunda kaldık.
Since he used all the styrophore to making the mating nuc bodies, no styrophore was left for the top cover. So we had to buy some more styrophore.

Atelye ise küçük ana kutuları ile dolmuş durumda. Bir paket strafor aldık tam 2 stok kovanı ve 54 ana çiftleştirme kutusu gövdesi çıktı.
The workshop is full of mating nuc bodies. We bought a packet of styrophore and built 2 stock hives and 54
mating nuc bodies.

Bu arada bu akşam eve geldiğimde Arıcı büyüğümüz Sayın Kenan Gişan'ın bugün babasını kaybettiğini öğrendim. Kendisine başsağlığı, tüm ailesine sabır dilerim. Allah rahmet eylesin.

This evening when i came home, i learnt that Mr. Kenan Gişan, a Beekeeper Friend, had lost his father early this morning. I feel sorry for him and his family and beloved ones. I wish him and all his family patience. I hope God will forgive his sins.
