Geçen Pazar - Last Sunday

Geçtiğimiz Pazar (11 Mart 2012) arıları kontrole gittik, tabi yine arıcı arkadaşım Enver ile birlikte..
Last Sunday (11th March 2012) we went to our apiaries to observe the hives with my beekeeping friend Enver...

Tabiki ilk durağımız Kındır Çiftliği'ydi. Görünürde bir sorun yoktu ama havanın 5 - 6 C olmasını fırsat bilerek bir oksalik asit buharlaştırması da yapalım dedik. Malum geçen sonbahar varroa bizlere çok büyük kayıplar verdirdi.
Our first stop was of course The Kindir Farm. There was no problem but since the weather was 5 - 6 C, we decided to vaporise some oxalic acid for our bees in order to fight against varroa. As you know last autumn varroa caused many colony loses in our apiaries.

Sonra Enver'in arılığa geçtik.
Then we continued with Enver's apiary.

Enver oksalik asit buharlaştırırken bende doğayı inceleme fırsatı buldum. Pirenler (Erica arborea) tomurcukta, hava yeterince ısınmadığı için açmıyor.
While Enver was vaporising oxalic acid i found the opportunity to observe the nature. The tree heaths (Erica arborea) had buds but they did not blossom, because the weather was not hot enough.

Çeşnigir'de de durum aynıydı. Ballı babalarda tam açmamıştı.
It was the same in Çeşnigir as well. The purple archangels did not fully blossomed.

Geçen sonbaharda greyder yol kenarlarında düzleme yaparken arılığımı çevreleyen çalılarda iki gedik açmış. Bu çalılar aslında doğal bir çit görevi görüyordu.
Last autumn, the road passing in front of my apiary was restored and at that time a grader created 2 holes in the bushes surrounding my apiary. The bushes are a kind of natural fence surrounding my apiary.

These two Leyland Cypresses are given as present by Mehmet Çetinaslan, who is an agriculture engineer in Tigem, a state owned farm..... I would like to thank him here in my blog.

Yolda geri dönerken dikkatimi çekti, son yağışlardan dolayı dereler epey kabarmış. İnşallah bir sel falan olmaz.
On the way back, i recognised that the level of the water in rivers have risen a lot recently. I hope there won't be any flood this year.
